Root canal treatments
If the infection in the pulp of your tooth is left unattended, it can spread through the root canal system and lead to abscesses. To help prevent this, your dentist will likely suggest a root canal treatment. Call me for more details. The practice is based in Peterborough and offers services throughout the surrounding areas.
How does a root canal treatment work?
Root canal treatment is carried out to remove all infection from the root canal. After the treatment, the root is cleaned and filled to prevent any further infection from developing. The treatment usually requires two or more visits. At the first appointment, we will remove the infected pulp and clean the root canal to introduce the filling. We will then fill the canal with temporary filling, allowing the tooth to heal. On your second visit, we will check your tooth and fill it with permanent filling after ensuring that the tooth has healed.
After the root canal treatment
Some people may experience tooth discolouration after the treatment. You can protect your tooth after the treatment with a crown. It is important to maintain good oral hygiene and visit the dentist regularly.
